Noonan Syndrome Puzzle Adventure
Noonan Syndrome Puzzle Adventure
Dr Catherine Coveney’s research inspired Lele Saa to create a puzzle book for families with children who have Noonan syndrome.
An original resource that children can take into school and explain about Noonan syndrome to friends, classmates and teachers. Illustrated in red and blue – colours of the Noonan Syndrome awareness ribbon – the puzzle book contains a mixture of activities normally seen in this type of publications like a ‘word search’, a ‘maze’ or a ‘colouring’ page.
It also includes prompts for an ‘I spy’ game for when they go to hospital appointments, a ‘chatterbox’ with mindfulness exercises for parents/carers and a ‘board game’ that depicts challenges of having Noonan Syndrome, as well as showing positive moments in the life of these children.
Hopefully this ART-TRAnslation will help increase knowledge and promote inclusion and acceptance of children who have Noonan Syndrome.

Scientist – Dr Katie Coveney
Senior Lecturer in Sociology, Loughborough University
Katie’s research takes a qualitative social scientific approach to provide a critial lens on the everyday experiences of families living with the rare genetic condition Noonan Syndrome (NS). The research findings shed light on the inequalities, difficulties, challenges, uncertainties, hardships and feelings of alienation and vulnerability NS families face in their daily lives, as well as emphasising those moments of health, stability, strength, belonging, joy and the networks of care and caring that characterise living with complex chronic illness and disability.
