Becky is running the Leicester Half Marathon in aid of CamRARE
This October, Becky will be running the Leicester Half Marathon in support of CamRARE, inspired by her nine-year-old niece, Maisey, who lives with the rare genetic condition MC4R. The condition means Maisey experiences constant, overwhelming hunger due to her brain not receiving the signal that she is full. Every mile of training is dedicated to her resilience and determination.
By fundraising for CamRARE, Becky hopes to help connect families affected by rare diseases with researchers working to improve understanding and develop better treatments. Every donation will support CamRARE’s mission to ensure that no family facing a rare condition feels alone and to create a future where people living with rare diseases receive the support they deserve.
Cambridgeshire Community Lottery
CamRARE has signed up to the newly launched Cambridgeshire Community Lottery. This is run by the Cambridgeshire Community Foundation who work to support charities with funding.
The lottery is a fun and effective way for local charities and community organisations to fundraise and engage with supporters. The lottery enables people to support the causes they care about while having the chance to win something in return.
A ticket costs just £1 a week. 50p from every ticket will support the player’s chosen charity and another 10p will support other good causes across the county.
Players have a 1 in 50 chance of winning a prize each week, with a top prize of £25,000.

Nathan’s Ride London 2023 raises £1448!!
CamRARE advocate Nathan Chapman cycled the Ride London-Essex – a challenging 100-mile course on traffic-free roads that starts and finishes in central London and features a loop of the Essex countryside in between.
Nathan raisied an amazing £1448 for CamRARE (Cambridge Rare Disease Network) and our Unique Feet group which his family are members of. We’ve loved having Reuben, pictured right with his Rare Bear, and his family as part of our community and being there for them as they’ve been on their arduous journey towards a diagnosis.
Shelford 5k Fun Run 2025 raises £3,725 for CamRARE
CamRARE proudly co-hosted the family friendly Shelford 5k Fun Run and 5k Race in 2025, for the 3rd year with inclusive play champions Shelford Playscape!
We had a brilliant day and want to send a huge thank you to everyone who took part, volunteered and cheered!
