Katrina Brooks

Young Person Advocate

Katrina is an advocate for young people like her with long-term invisible illnesses, raising awareness and supporting young people facing similar life challenges.

As a young black woman with Lupus, Katrina’s goal is to advocate and raise awareness for young people with long-term health conditions like her. While advocating she aims to show the different struggles that come with having a long-term illness and how she manages. Achieving your goals and dreams is possible despite the challenges you face, Katrina wants to show and empower other young people to follow their dreams and not let an illness stop them from living and achieving.

Rare Youth Voices and Choices

You chose your priorities for the Rare Disease Framework. What would ours be? Young adults living with rare conditions share their priorities for a Rare Disease Framework that speaks for them.

My three wishes for rare disease are: more awareness for rare diseases, more support offered to young people with rare diseases especially in schools, and more research and funding to improve support for people with rare diseases.
