Rare Youth Monologues

Sometimes we just need to stop and listen. Three young people will take to the stage to share their experiences of living with a rare condition in this unique spoken word performance. Followed by a chat facilitated by Dr Lucy McKay from Medics4RareDiseases.

I am a 20-year-old student, currently studying Mechanical Engineering at Plymouth University. I was diagnosed with a rare disease, Addison’s disease in January 2021. Since then I have been trying to understand my condition, learning to balance my work life with my new condition.

My three wishes for the future of rare disease are:

  • To let doctors know what people with rare diseases go through
  • To spread awareness
  • To help people who are new to rare diseases.
