Cambridge Rare Disease Network - RAREfest | Film - Cerebrospinal Fluid Leaks 1

An introduction to Cerebrospinal Fluid (CSF) leaks

Synopsis: A Cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) leak is a serious life-changing condition caused by a hole in the membrane containing fluid surrounding the spinal cord and brain. Sufferers are often misdiagnosed and experience severe head pain that is worse when upright, visual disturbances, hearing impairment, tinnitus, spasms, seizures and other symptoms. Meningitis risk increases with cranial CSF leaks. There is little awareness or support for those in need.
The CSF Leak Association aims to raise awareness, advance understanding of causes, symptoms, diagnosis and treatments, encourage research and provide access to support and information for sufferers.
