KEELE UNIVERSITY

Progressive Prosthetics

Synopsis: We are from Keele University, and our exhibit is called “Progressive Prosthetics”. It is about our research that aims to make prosthetic hands move and feel more like real hands. Modern prosthetic hands look human, but they are difficult to control, and don’t give any feeling back to the user. Our approach is to use a computer model as a link between the user and the prosthesis. It can predict the movement of the missing hand from information we record from remaining muscles, and generate proprioceptive information to enhance the sensation of using the prosthetic hand.
