Join the NIHR at the new Cambridge Festival!

The new Cambridge Festival will take place from 26 March to 4 April 2021, with more than 350 free online events and activities for everyone.

The National Institute for Health Research (NIHR) is the UK’s largest funder of health and care research. Its mission – to improve the health and the wealth of the nation through research – is shared across all its constituent programmes, units and centres.

Find out more about how some of those are supporting research across the Cambridge Biomedical Campus in a series of online films, talks and discussions at the Cambridge Festival 2021.

The following NIHR organisations are hosting events during the Festival;

NIHR BioResource
NIHR Blood & Transplant Research Unit in Organ Donation and Transplantation
NIHR Blood & Transplant Research Unit in Donor Health and Genomics
NIHR Brain Injury MedTech Co-operative
NIHR Cambridge Biomedical Research Centre
NIHR Cambridge Clinical Research Facility

This is the first time the Cambridge Festival been held online. The NIHR Cambridge BRC will be one of 250 events held over two weeks from Friday, March 26 to Sunday, April 4.

Organisations across Cambridgeshire will come together to host a whole range of events from the environment to healthcare.

What’s this new Festival?

The new, interdisciplinary Cambridge Festival (replacing the Cambridge Science Festival and the Cambridge Festival of Ideas) will take place from 26 March to 4 April 2021. The festival will primarily be digital in 2021 – to enable wide-reaching engagement during the COVID-19 pandemic.

There will still be strong and distinct platforms for the Sciences and the Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences. And the new Festival will include a uniquely Cambridge eclectic mixture of over 350 events and activities: from panel discussions, film premieres, and self-guided walking tours, to ‘try this at home’ activities for the whole family. Topics cover the breadth of Cambridge research and will be presented across the Festival’s four themes: Society, Health, Environment and Explore!

The University’s Public Engagement team brings the Cambridge Festival to you. To find out about their other events such as Open Cambridge, and their training and development programme for researchers, please visit cam.ac.uk/public-engagement
